AI shopping agent glossary: agents, collections, hosted chat, catalog sync, domain verification, product matching, and other AgenticCart terms for merchants.

This AI shopping agent glossary collects the agentic commerce terms and AgenticCart terminology you will meet across the product. It is written for merchants, not developers, and every entry includes a short example so the definition lands in context. Use it alongside the introduction if you are new to the product or the conversational commerce vocabulary behind it.

About this glossary

AgenticCart is an ecommerce AI platform with its own terminology: agents, collections, hosted chat, catalog sync, and domain verification are used throughout the docs and the dashboard. These AI sales agent definitions stay close to how each term is used inside the product, so when you see a word on this page you can expect it to mean the same thing in the dashboard UI.

A–F

Agent (AI sales agent)
The branded shopping assistant shoppers interact with on your hosted chat domain. Each agent is tied to one product collection and one brand voice. Example: a "Gift finder" agent scoped to a Holiday Gifts collection. See AI sales agents.
Agentic commerce
The broader category of ecommerce experiences where an autonomous AI agent, rather than a static storefront, guides the shopper through product discovery, comparison, and decision-making. The term covers both merchant-owned agentic storefronts and models where AI agents transact on behalf of shoppers inside third-party platforms like ChatGPT or Google AI Mode. AgenticCart is an agentic-commerce platform focused on owned agentic storefronts.
Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP)
An open protocol from OpenAI that defines how external AI agents discover products and complete purchases across merchant systems. ACP powers third-party agentic storefronts where shoppers buy inside ChatGPT. AgenticCart is protocol-agnostic at the owned-storefront layer — the AI lives on your own domain, separate from ACP. See agentic storefront.
Agentic shopping
A shopping experience where the shopper describes intent in natural language and an AI agent does the work of interpreting, matching, and recommending. Replaces "browse and filter" with "describe and decide." The shopper-facing side of agentic commerce.
Agentic storefront
An online store where an AI agent participates in the shopping experience — surfacing products, answering questions, comparing options, and guiding the shopper to checkout. Two models exist in 2026: third-party agentic storefronts (selling inside ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Copilot via protocols like ACP and UCP) and owned agentic storefronts (the merchant runs the AI on their own domain). See agentic storefront.
Assistant
Another name for an AI sales agent. The two terms are used interchangeably across the dashboard and docs.
Billing portal
The hosted billing area where you manage payment methods, invoices, plan changes, and cancellations. See plans and billing for what each plan covers.
Catalog
The pool of product data AgenticCart reads from your connected store or feed. The catalog is raw; a collection is the curated subset an agent can recommend from.
ChatGPT checkout
A loose industry phrase for buying inside a chat experience. AgenticCart does not replace your checkout: recommendations are presented inside the chat, and the shopper completes the purchase on your existing store.
Collection
A selected group of products that an agent is allowed to recommend. Example: a "Running Shoes" collection containing every running shoe in a larger catalog of 6,000 SKUs. Collections scope each agent to one buying journey rather than limiting total product count. See collections.
Conversational storefront
A storefront where the primary shopper interface is a natural-language conversation rather than category pages and filters. Synonymous with "agentic storefront" in many industry usages; AgenticCart uses both terms.
Custom-domain chat
A full-page AI shopping experience on a domain you control, for example chat.yourbrand.com. Available on supported plans. Closely related to "hosted chat".
Domain verification
The process of proving you control the domain where an agent's hosted chat page will run. Verified through WooCommerce pairing or a DNS TXT record.
Engagement
Shopper activity with an agent, such as opening the chat, sending messages, or clicking product cards. Engagement metrics help you tell whether an agent is doing commercial work.
Feed
A public product-data URL, often in Google Merchant format, that AgenticCart can read to import catalog information. Example: a merchant on Shopify exposing a Google Merchant feed for AgenticCart to consume.
Feed refetch
A manual refresh that tells AgenticCart to re-read your product feed. Useful right after a price change or a campaign launch when you do not want to wait for the next scheduled sync.

G–P

Hosted chat
A full-page AI shopping conversation served by AgenticCart on a domain you own. Same concept as "custom-domain chat"; the term "hosted chat" emphasises that AgenticCart hosts the page itself.
Integration
A connection between AgenticCart and a product source, such as WooCommerce or a product feed URL. Each integration feeds catalog data into the platform.
Interaction
A shopper message sent to an agent. Interactions count toward monthly plan usage on every AgenticCart plan.
Owned agentic storefront
An agentic storefront that the merchant fully controls — running on the merchant's own domain, with the merchant's brand voice, product cards, and conversation data. Contrasts with third-party agentic storefronts where the AI experience lives inside platforms like ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, or Microsoft Copilot. AgenticCart is a platform for launching owned agentic storefronts. See agentic storefront.
Persona
The tone, style, and behaviour settings that shape how an agent sounds. Example: a luxury-beauty brand persona speaks differently from a playful streetwear persona on the same catalog.
Plan limit
A cap imposed by the chosen AgenticCart plan on domains, agents, active SKUs, or monthly interactions. See plans and billing for how limits map to each tier.
Product card
The visual product recommendation shown inside chat, usually with image, title, price, and a call-to-action link to the product page on your store.
Product matching
The way AgenticCart connects shopper intent to relevant products from an assigned collection. Matching is intent-based, not keyword-based.

S–W

SKU limit
The number of active products your plan supports for agent recommendations. Out-of-stock or archived products typically do not count toward the limit.
Store knowledge
Merchant-provided context such as shipping windows, return rules, warranties, sizing notes, or brand guidance. The agent uses store knowledge to answer non-product shopper questions on brand.
Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)
Google's open protocol, launched at NRF in January 2026, that lets external AI agents discover and transact with merchant catalogs inside Google AI Mode and partner surfaces. Counterpart to OpenAI's ACP. Unrelated to owned agentic storefronts — AgenticCart runs the AI on your own domain, not via these third-party protocols.
Sync (catalog sync)
An update that brings current product information from your store or feed into AgenticCart. After a sync, agents use the refreshed data on the next conversation. See catalog sync overview.
Variant
A specific version of a product, such as a colour, size, material, or configuration. Variants are tracked alongside the parent product so the agent can recommend a specific option.
Verified domain
A domain AgenticCart has confirmed belongs to you. Verification unlocks assigning agents to that domain and launching a hosted chat page on it.
WooCommerce plugin
The WordPress plugin that connects a WooCommerce store to AgenticCart. Installing the plugin is usually the first step for WordPress merchants.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI sales agent?
An AI sales agent is a conversational assistant that recommends products from a merchant's catalog based on shopper intent. In AgenticCart, each AI sales agent is tied to one collection and one brand voice, so its recommendations stay focused and on-brand.
What's the difference between a collection and a catalog?
The catalog is the full pool of product data AgenticCart reads from your store or feed. A collection is a curated subset of the catalog that one agent is allowed to recommend from. A merchant typically has one catalog and many collections.
What does "interaction" mean for billing?
An interaction is a single shopper message sent to an agent. Interactions count toward the monthly usage limit on your plan, and most plans reset this counter at the start of each billing cycle.
What is a hosted chat domain?
A hosted chat domain is a custom domain you control — for example chat.yourbrand.com — where AgenticCart serves the full-page AI shopping conversation. You add a DNS record, AgenticCart provisions SSL, and the agent appears on that URL.
